Helping Small Businesses Succeed

In 1980, Congress adopted the Small Business development Center (SBDC), which authorized the creation of SBDC networks in each state. Former Auburn Business School Dean George Horton embraced the idea, establishing a SBDC branch at Auburn University in 1980. The Auburn branch was to provide technical and counseling needs of small businesses in east-central Alabama.

The SBDC at Auburn serves eight counties: Coosa, Chambers, Clay, Lee, Macon, Randolph, Russell and Tallapoosa. Residents in these counties have the opportunity to use the Center's expertise and advice concerning many aspects for starting a business.
